Fortunes of States through individual prowess ripen
Each man one star of their ascendant (Destiny)

Who knows the nation’s fates?
But signs abound, If Muslims are wakeful

ہو جس کے جوانوں کی خودی صورتِ فولاد
Uss Qoum Ko Shamsheer Ki Hajat Nahin Rehti
Ho Jis Ke Jawanon Ki Khudi Soorat-e-Foulad
A nation whose youth are endowed with self as strong and hard as steel,
No need of piercing swords in war such people brave can ever feel.

شاہین کبھی پرواز سے تھک کر نہیں گرتا
پُردم ہے اگر تو‘ تو نہیں خطرہ اُفتاد
Shaheen Kabhi Parwaz Se Thak Kar Nahin Girta
Pur Dam Hai Agar Tu To Nahin Khatra-e-Uftad
The hawk is never tired of flight, Does not drop gasping on the ground,
If unwearied it remains on wings, From huntersʹ dread is safe and sound.

ستاروں پہ جو ڈالتے ہیں کمند
Mohhabbat Mujhe Un Jawanon Se Hai
Sitaron Pe Jo Dalte Hain Kumand
The youth to whom the stars are not out of bounds
Are the ones I love indeed.

Tujhe Iss Qoum Ne Pala Hai Aghosh-e-Muhabbat Mein
Kuchal Dala Tha Jis Ne Paon Mein Taj-e-Sar-e-Dara
You came of a stock that nourishes you In the close embracing of love,
A stock that trampled under foot Dara who wore the crown.

ترے صوفے ہيں افرنگی ، ترے قاليں ہيں ايرانی
لہو مجھ کو رلاتی ہے جوانوں کی تن آسانی
Tere Sofe Hain Afarangi, Tere Qaleen Hain Irani
Lahoo Mujh Ko Rulati Hai Jawanon Ki Tan Asani
Your sofas are from Europe, your carpets from Iran;
This slothful opulence evokes my sigh of pity.
امارت کيا ، شکوہ خسروی بھی ہو تو کيا حاصل
نہ زور حيدری تجھ ميں ، نہ استغنائے سلمانی
Amarat Kya, Shikoh-e-Khusrawi Bhi Ho To Kya Hasil
Na Zor-e-Haidari Tujh Mein, Na Istaghna-e-Salmani
In vain if you possess Khusroe’s imperial pomp,
If you do not possess prowess or contentment.
عقابی روح جب بيدار ہوتی ہے جوانوں ميں
نظر آتی ہے اس کو اپنی منزل آسمانوں ميں
Auqabi Rooh Jab Baidar Hoti Hai Jawanon Mein
Nazar Ati Hai Iss Ko Apni Manzil Asmanon Mein
When an eagle’s spirit awakens in youthful hearts,
It sees its luminous goal beyond the starry heavens.
خودی کو کر بلند اتنا کہ ہر تقدیر سے پہلے
خدا بندے سے خود پوچھے بتا تیری رضا کیا ہے”
Khudi Ko Kar Buland Itna Ke Har Taqdeer Se Pehle
Khuda Bande Se Khud Puche, Bata Teri Raza Kya Hai
Develop the self so that before every decree
God will ascertain from you: “What is your wish?”
اپنے من ميں ڈوب کر پا جا سراغ زندگی
تو اگر ميرا نہيں بنتا نہ بن ، اپنا تو بن
Apne Mann Mein Doob Kar Pa Ja Suragh-E-Zindagi
Tu Agar Mera Nahin Banta Na Bann, Apna To Bann
Delve into your soul and there seek our life’s buried tracks;
Will you not be mine? then be not mine, be your own right!
پانی پانی کر گئی مجھ کو قلندر کی يہ بات
تو جھکا جب غير کے آگے ، نہ من تيرا نہ تن
Pani Pani Kar Gyi Mujh Ko Qalandar Ki Ye Baat
Tu Jhuka Jab Ghair Ke Agay, Na Mann Tera Na Tann
Shame and shame that hermit’s saying pouted on me—you forfeit
Body and soul alike if once you cringe to another’s might!
تو شاہیں ہے پرواز ہے کام تیرا
تیرے سامنے آسماں اور بھی ہیں
Tu Shaheen Hai, Parwaz Hai Kaam Tera
Tere Samne Asman Aur Bhi Hain
You are an eagle, flight is your vocation:
You have other skies stretching out before you.
